Chris Ray, a pika researcher, is scheduled to talk about her work Friday and then orient volunteers who want to monitor habitat of pikas, a relative of the rabbit, that is being displaced from its mountain homes by warming temperatures.

On Saturday, Ray will lead volunteers to pika country around Silverton to learn how field work is done. Ray herself monitors pikas in Gallatin National Forest in Montana and on Niwot Ridge near Boulder.

Ray’s talk Friday starts at 5:30 p.m. at the San Juan Public Lands Center, 15 Burnett Court. Training will run from 7 to 8 p.m. The session in Silverton on Saturday is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Information is available at 387-5161.
