Grammy-nominated songwriter Eliza Gilkyson to perform in Mancos

Grammy-nominated songwriter and Austin Music Hall of Famer Eliza Gilkyson will perform with her trio at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Mancos Opera House, 136 W. Grand Ave., Mancos.

Gilkyson is a politically minded and poetically gifted singer-songwriter known for contemplative, rootsy folk songs. Her music deals with everything from love and loss to the devastation of natural disasters and the chaos of family life. The well-regarded Americana artist, who is based in Austin, has released roughly 20 albums and has appeared on NPR, Austin City Limits, e-town and Mountain Stage.

Gilkyson is currently touring to support her latest album, “The Nocturne Diaries,” which was released in March. The album dips into dark subjects like lost souls and cultures on the verge of collapse, but the music is warmed by Gilkyson’s empathetic lyrics and rolling melodies. Gilkyson’s son, Cisco Ryder, produced the sessions for the album.

Special guest Melissa Crabtree will take the stage during Thursday’s show, and part of the proceeds of the concert will benefit the Mancos Valley Resources, a nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving and enhancing Mancos’ cultural, historical, recreational and educational assets.

Tickets to the Tami Graham Presents show are $20 in advance and $22 at the door, and are available at Southwest Sound in Durango, Zuma Natural Foods in Mancos or at the door.
