Mesa Verde National Park has lifted fire restrictions that had been in place since July 22.

In a news release Tuesday, Superintendent Cliff Spencer said sufficient rain has fallen to reduce the fire danger.

Effective immediately, open fires or charcoal fires are no longer prohibited in Morefield Campground, the Chapin Mesa picnic area or park residences, the release said.

Fire restrictions could be imposed again if conditions warrant.
