Mesa Verde on short list for best cultural experience

Mesa Verde National Park Ranger Andera Bolitho explains the architecture of Mug House to a group of hikers.

What? We’re up for another Top 10 list?

Visit Colorado is asking folks in the state to vote for Mesa Verde National Park as one of the 10 Best Native American Experiences in the country in a contest run by USA Today.

Unfortunately, there’s no place to raise a ruckus with the publication, which hedges by calling Cliff Palace “presumably” the largest cliff dwelling in North America.

Mesa Verde is unique in that it’s not only historical but has a living connection to the Pueblo Indians in New Mexico and often hosts Native American dances and markets to showcase the culture and traditions of different Southwest tribes with visitors from around the world.
