Pumpkin thieves taught preschoolers lesson

I would like to thank the person or people who saved the children the trouble of harvesting the mini pumpkins and shell beans that were growing in front of Durango Early Learning Center on East Third Avenue.

It was almost three months to the day that they were both planted, perhaps you even saw the children plant them in front of the school in May. I wonder if whoever did this lives in the neighborhood and has watched their progress as they grew.

After growing pumpkins for the children on the corner of Third and Ninth, and having them repeatedly smashed, we decided to grow mini pumpkins inside the property. I guess the temptation of disappointing small children was too great, so you decided to trespass on private property and help yourselves.

Oh, and thanks for smashing some of the perennials to gain access by climbing over the fence – they needed to be dead-headed anyway!

I can only assume that whoever was responsible for this senseless act just wanted to teach those little preschoolers a life lesson by taking what did not belong to them – regardless of the circumstances and who it may hurt.

Thanks a lot!
