Rag education would improve sanitation

Upon reading the restaurant inspections, I feel San Juan Basin Health Department is missing a critical violation, and it might consider adding it to the list. It could fall under a new category: rag gag.

The rag situation is common among most restaurants, as I happen to have observed while dining alone on numerous occasions.

Have you ever noticed how the table busser arrives at your table with a cheerful greeting: “How are you today” and a wet rag? He or she wipes the crumbs, etc., off the table and lays down a fresh set of silverware. He or she may then go on to the next table with the same rag, then proceed to wipe off the table tops and chairs or seats in the booths: same rag. In between, for the unaware, some possible locations for the filthy rag to hang out may be a hook, the bar or from the hip of the busser.

Goodness knows what sat or stood in that chair before the rag was used repeatedly. Perhaps it was the weak in bladder wearing their trusty Depends, babies to toddlers with dirty diapers, children standing with their shoes fresh off the street or the nurse still wearing his or her scrubs. Perhaps it could be the cowboy fresh out of the barn or the city employee who just sprayed the grass in the park.

And so it goes, onto the next table with the rag!

To make matters worse, the same busser returns to refill your water glass.

This rag situation is a common occurrence. Check it out. Some rag education would make for better sanitation.
