Editorial overlooked Amendment 68 facts

The Herald editorial on Amendment 68 is biased and one-sided (Aug. 13). By your view, no new thing should ever be done because it takes from one item to create the new. Do you think alcohol sales do not suffer since marijuana was legalized in Colorado? Do you think automobile manufacturers didn’t take from buggy and whip producers? And who do you think owns the casinos currently operating in Colorado? Mostly, if not entirely, out-of-state companies. Churchill Downs from Kentucky now manages the Saratoga Casino Blackhawk for a New York firm. Isle of Capri is a Missouri company, Ameristar is Nevada-based. So, basically, your position says protect a New York, Missouri or Nevada company over a Rhode Island company at the expense of Colorado schools and new jobs. It seems to me you might have pointed out the out-of-state connections that are protected by your view!
