NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Singer-songwriter Jason Isbell has swept the major awards at the Americana Honors & Awards.
Isbell won artist, album and song of the year during the 13th annual awards show Wednesday night at Ryman Auditorium in Nashville, Tennessee.
The Alabama-born performer’s “Southeastern” was one of 2013’s most celebrated albums, earning a place on most best-of lists and resonating in the Americana community. He also won for “Cover Me Up,” a song written for and performed with his wife, singer-fiddler Amanda Shires.
Other winners included emerging artist Sturgill Simpson, group/duo of the year Milk Carton Kids and instrumentalist of the year Buddy Miller.
Loretta Lynn, Taj Mahal and Flaco Jimenez received lifetime achievement awards.
