IHS football drowns in sea of Cortez

Things got ugly for the Ignacio High School football team Friday in Cortez.

Montezuma-Cortez beat the Bobcats 66-6 in the Panthers’ homecoming game.

IHS (0-4) trailed 49-6 at halftime and 28-6 after the fourth quarter.

The Bobcats scored on an 80-yard touchdown pass from Adison Jones to Chase Sanchez with 5 minutes, 16 seconds left in the first quarter.

The schedule eases up slightly for the Class 1A Bobcats after playing two Class 1A teams that made the postseason and a pair of 2A teams so far.

They will visit John Mall High School at 7 p.m. Friday in Walsenburg to open Southern Peaks League play.
