Hunters asked to keep watch for Dylan Redwine belongings

Still no suspects in the case

The mother of the 13-year-old boy who disappeared Nov. 19, 2012, while visiting his father in Vallecito is appealing to hunters to be on the lookout for any item that could belong to her son.

Dylan Redwine was reported missing the day after he arrived on a court-ordered visit with his father. Elaine and Mark Redwine were divorced, and she lived in the Colorado Springs area.

The bow season for hunters ends Sunday, followed by four rifle seasons in October and November.

A poster created by Elaine Redwine asks hunters or outdoor enthusiasts to be alert for a black backpack, black shorts, black shirt, black Air Jordan shoes, a Duke Blue Devils baseball cap and an older-model, flip Verizon cellphone.

Bone fragments, identified via DNA as Dylan’s, were found in spring 2013 on a remote section of Middle Mountain, north of Vallecito.

Elaine Redwine’s poster says any item that could possibly belong to Dylan should be left where found. A call to La Plata County law-enforcement dispatchers should ask for the on-call investigator.

Rifle hunting seasons are Oct. 11-15, Oct. 18-26, Nov. 1-9 and Nov. 12-16.

La Plata County Sheriff’s spokesman Dan Bender said in June that investigators meet at least once a week to compare notes.

There apparently are no suspects.

Dylan arrived in Durango by plane Nov. 18, 2012. Mark Redwine told investigators that when he left early the next morning to run an errand, Dylan was asleep. When he returned several hours later, the boy was gone.
