Stop signs planned for East Animas Road

The La Plata County Road and Bridge Department plans to install two new stop signs Monday on East Animas Road (County Road 250) at 32nd Street and Metz Lane.

Jim Davis, director of the county’s Public Works, did not respond to calls requesting comment.

According to a news release from La Plata County, the new stop signs will make the intersection a “four-way stop,” though Metz Lane isn’t entirely aligned with the other roads.

The new stop signs are designed to “help address left and right turn conflicts from 32nd Street,” it says, and “help control vehicle/pedestrian conflicts in this transitional area, and alleviate a site distance issue at the intersection.”

The release says that “variable message signs will be placed on 32nd Street and County Road 250 in advance of the change and will remain at least one week after the change.”
