Title No. 22 just out of reach for FLC cycling

Marian University repeats as track champions with a women’s individual omnium winner, too

A 22nd national championship eluded the Fort Lewis College cycling team at the USA Cycling Collegiate track nationals in Indianapolis.

Marian University, which hosted the event and has a velodrome on campus, prevailed in the Division I team omnium standings with 1,201 points.

FLC finished second with 949 points.

Colorado Mesa won the Division II team omnium title with 1,162 points.

Marian has won four consecutive track omnium titles.

Coryn Rivera of Marian also won the female individual omnium with 492 points, while Charles Cassin of the University of Colorado win the men’s individual omnium with 458 points.

FLC’s Zack Noonan finished fourth in the individual omnium with 326 points.

Noonan also took home a bronze medal in the men’s points race.

The FLC team of Dean Haas, Troy Meeker, Noonan and Max Thilen finished third in the men’s team pursuit.

Mountain bike season is up next for the Skyhawks, who are the eight-time defending national champions.
