FLC women’s golf hacking away

Another tournament, another growing experience for the brand new Fort Lewis College women’s golf team.

The FLC Skyhawks competed in the first round of their second Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference tournament in program history Monday at Bookcliffs Country Club in Grand Junction. The Skyhakws are in last place out of 17 teams after they recorded a team score of 398, which is 110-over par.

Jessica Thulson, a junior and a Durango High School alumna, once again was the low woman on the team for FLC. She is in a seven-way tie for 21st at 10-over 82.

Dixie State College leads the tournament at 24-over 312, and Colorado Mesa is in second after shooting a 314 in the opening round of their home tournament.

Colorado Mesa’s Taylor Walters leads the individual leaderboard at 1-over 73, and Dixie State’s Haley Dunn is alone in second place one stroke behind.

Myranda Crawford, an FLC senior and another DHS alumna, is tied in 88th after shooting 100. Lauren Trujillo shot 102, Lindsey Blythe shot 114, and Jordyn Bonney rounded out the team with 124.

There are 100 players in the field

The second round will be held Tuesday morning.
