FLC finishes fall season eighth

Colorado Mines wins RMAC No. 2; Porter of CSU-Pueblo is medalist

The Fort Lewis College men’s golf team improved one spot to finish eighth at the second Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference event of the season Tuesday.

The Skyhawks improved nine strokes from Monday’s opening round and five strokes from the second round at Eisenhower Golf Course on the United States Air Force Academy base to finish at 97-over at the tournament hosted by UC-Colorado Springs.

Colorado School of Mines won the team tournament at 28-over with a 6-over 294 on Tuesday.

CSU-Pueblo’s Matt Porter surged to victory as medalist with a 3-under 69. He finished one stroke over par for the tournament.

Dillon Washburn led the Skyhawks in a tie for 24th with a 236.

Lucas Laudick tied for 28th at 240, Josh Woodworth tied for 30th at 241, Mitch Donley tied for 40th at 248, and Durango High School alumnus Michael Thomas tied for 43rd at 249 for the Skyhawks.

The fall season is over for FLC; the Skyhawks will resume play in the spring.
