Governor in town to rally voters

Hickenlooper

If Gov. John Hickenlooper has a home away from home in Durango, it’s Carver Brewing Co., 1022 Main Ave.

And today, he’ll be there from 3:45 to 5:30 p.m. to rally supporters now that mail-in ballots have arrived in voters’ mailboxes.

It’s emblematic of every candidate’s push now that votes are actually being cast. On Saturday, La Plata County treasurer candidate Bobby Lieb took over J. Paul Brown’s favorite spot across from Walmart to campaign. Radio and newspaper ads, along with fliers, for hotly contested races moved from prolific to unrelenting.

It’s bound to get more intense between now and Election Day, Nov. 4, when ballots are due by 7 p.m. It might be a good time to read a book.
