Smith will demand professionalism

I worked in local law enforcement for almost 16 years with stints at the Durango Police Department, La Plata County Sheriff’s Office and the Southwest Drug Task Force.

In my opinion, Duke Schirard does not run the honest and fiscally responsible department that he claims. I have myself witnessed frequent and common cover ups, good ol’ boy politics and special treatment of friends and family. To be fair, I am not saying that Duke himself took part in these acts, but they happen frequently under his command. Either he is uninvolved or fully aware.

As far as the whole weapon debate goes, Colorado is a “shall issue state”; neither candidate has the power to either take or save your guns. Every concealed carry permit issued, so far, was issued because it has to be under the law.

Elect a sheriff who understands his oath of office – Sean Smith. Elect a sheriff who will not lie to the people he serves – Sean Smith. Elect a sheriff who will demand professionalism and provide fiscal responsibility – Sean Smith.
