DENVER – Either New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has fallen in love with Colorado’s “quality of life,” or it must be campaign season.

The chairman of the Republican Governors Association landed in Colorado again on Monday to stump for Republican gubernatorial challenger Bob Beauprez.

Beauprez remains in a statistically tied race against incumbent Democrat John Hickenlooper.

The visit marked Christie’s third campaign stop in Colorado this election season, following his April comments bashing the state’s “quality of life” for legalizing marijuana.

But there was no discussion of cannabis at the public event on Monday at the Denver offices of SeedPaths, a program that offers software development training.

“This election is about deciding whether Colorado wants to grow jobs and have prosperity, or whether they want to continue what they’re doing right now,” Christie said.

The larger-than-life political and civic leader is not the only bigwig landing in Colorado this week for election season.

Hillary Rodham Clinton is scheduled to attend a get-out-the-vote rally today for U.S. Sen. Mark Udall, who remains in a dead heat against Republican U.S. Rep. Cory Gardner. The event will mark Clinton’s second appearance in recent weeks for Udall.

Then on Thursday, first lady Michelle Obama will travel to Colorado for events in Denver and Fort Collins for Udall.

Beauprez said that with all-mail voting this year, it is important to appeal to voters early.

“You have to make your case earlier,” he said. “I don’t think we’ve ever had this sophistication and total effort statewide that we have this time.”
