Cortez man named to BLM resource advisory council

The Bureau of Land Management has appointed a Cortez man to its Resource Advisory Council, which advises the agency on public-land issues.

He is James Dietrich, named for his expertise in undeveloped recreation. Todd Bacon of Olathe was named for his knowledge of developed recreation.

William Gleason of Montrose was named member at large; Renzo DelPiccolo of Montrose represents the state; and John Reams of Naturita was named for his expertise in energy and minerals.

The last two named were reappointments.

The BLM has 28 Resource Advisory Council units in the West where most of its 245 million acres are located.

Each council has 10 to 15 members who are experts in recreation, ranching, state and local government, academics, and tribal issues.
