Hire commissioner with best experience

Let’s look at the La Plata County commissioner’s race from a business perspective, which is a pretty common way to make decisions in La Plata County. Let’s imagine that we own Board of County Commissioners Enterprises. There are two candidates applying for a new job listing.

One (Cynthia Roebuck) is extremely qualified, having worked in the industry for 15 years, and she has attended all industry-related meetings possible on her own free time over the past year, ever since she first became interested in the job. The other candidate has publicly stated that he wants to severely limit the ability of BOCCE to grow and succeed, and he feels the company is a liability to its customers.

Whom would the Herald recommend I hire? Well, their recommendation is that I hire the one who will make BOCCE more “diverse.” Not me. I’ll choose the one who has the best experience and the best interests of BOCCE at heart. That’s Cynthia Roebuck. Please, vote for the candidate who wants our enterprise (our county) to succeed.
