Want to play free hockey?

Durango Youth Hockey is inviting boys and girls to Chapman Hill Ice Rink at 3 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 8, for “Try Hockey for Free Day,” according to a city of Durango news release.

This event is part of the “Come Play Hockey Month” for local youth ages 4 to 9.

“We look forward to welcoming families to Chapman Hill to try the great sport of ice hockey,” said Dell Truax, Durango-area youth hockey director, in the release. “Our goal is for these families to enjoy watching their kids learn new skills with big smiles on their faces.”

USA Hockey’s “Try Hockey For Free” program, with the support of the National Hockey League, NHL member clubs and others, is designed to provide youth hockey associations a national platform to introduce new kids to the sport, the release said.

Total Hockey is an official sponsor of Try Hockey For Free Days. USA Hockey has 500 locations offering the opportunity to kids nationwide.
