Roebuck analyzes issues carefully

I am writing to cast my vote for Cynthia Roebuck as county commissioner and to introduce her to those of you who have not had the pleasure of meeting her. I am her daughter, admittedly biased and uniquely acquainted. Being Durango-born, raised and bound to return, I am invested in the future of the place I call home, as I know she is. Cynthia is the type of mother who you call for everything, though you might think twice if you’re calling for blind, unconditional support – a trait I believes bodes especially well for her position as county commissioner.

Despite my wishes at times, she is not the mother who believes I am always right. She needs more details, wants to better understand the context of any given situation and cares about the stakes others may have in the issue of concern. Even when it comes to supporting family, Cynthia requires time and information before she offers support or advice. This caring, analytical approach and the patience it requires are the core of what makes Cynthia an exceptional candidate.

These rare traits, paired with years of experience in various capacities related to land planning and development, will contribute greatly to the dynamics of the county commission. My mother is not a politician – it is the position itself that gives her the motivation and drive to commit herself to the campaign process. Rest assured, it is the job she seeks; the opportunity to give back to the community she has called home in a capacity for which she is uniquely qualified, well beyond her opponent.

Herein lies my request: Do our small, diverse and truly special community a favor and do not vote party lines. When we play into this dichotomy, we shift toward stagnation. Please, do your own research, and vote for the candidate most qualified. Thank you for voting Cynthia Roebuck for La Plata County commissioner.
