It’s time to re-elect Duke Schirard as sheriff of La Plata County. Duke has served this community well for more than 15 years and is able and willing to give four more.

He is honest, hard-working and dedicated to this county. He has a vast knowledge of the county and how it operates; he continues to move his department in the right direction; his staff is highly trained and well-qualified; and technology in the department is continually upgraded as budget constraints allow.

With his qualifications and expertise in all areas that matter, La Plata County will be in great shape for the next four years. My wife and I recently moved to Cortez, but Durango has been our home for more than 40 years.

We know Duke Schirard is a good man. He has the wisdom, skills and integrity needed for this job. Durango is changing enough. Stick with what works. Stick with Duke Schirard for sheriff. He cares deeply about La Plata County.
