Durango Massive announces Leftover Salmon shows

Also bringing Afroman, John Popper, Abney Park
Leftover Salmon will play two nights at the Animas City Theatre in February.

Durango Massive Productions and the Fort Lewis College Community Concert Hall are bringing two nights of Leftover Salmon to Durango on Feb. 17-18, Durango Massive announced this week.

The back-to-back shows will take place at the Animas City Theatre, 128 E. College Drive. Tickets will go on sale on Nov. 3 at Southwest Sound, the Downtown Durango Information Center and online at www.durangoconcerts.com or www.durangomassive.com.

Leftover Salmon, which formed in Boulder in 1989, has become a mainstay of Colorado’s music scene with its signature rowdy mountain boogie. The band is a Durango favorite, said Durango Massive owner Eugene Salaz.

Leftover Salmon is among a string of big-name acts Durango Massive is bringing to town this winter. Others include Afroman, playing at the Animas City Theatre on Nov. 14, Head for the Hills, playing at the Animas City Theatre on Dec. 5, Brothers Keeper with John Popper and Jono Manson, who are scheduled to play a New Year’s Eve show at the ACT and Abney Park, a Steampunk band Durango Massive is bringing to town for Snowdown.

“We’ve got some big ones,” Salaz said, adding that Abney Park “is probably one of the leading steampunk bands in America.”

Durango Massive will be announcing more shows soon, Salaz said, with some exciting news for Durango’s local music scene.

“That’s one of the biggest thing we’re trying to do, is keep our music scene local,” he said.
