The Bayfield High School volleyball team finished third in the Gold Bracket of the Palmer Ridge Invitational on Saturday in Monument.

Class 3A BHS (20-3) beat Class 4A Silver Creek 2-0 (25-19, 25-20) and Class 5A Horizon 2-0 (25-16, 25-20) in pool play to advance to the championship stages.

Class 4A Mullen beat Bayfield 3-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-20, 25-18), and the Wovlerines took out Montrose for the second time this season 3-0 (25-23, 25-19, 25-21).

“The team played strong, very hard, and we are better for having participated,” BHS head coach Terene Foutz said in an email to The Durango Herald. “It was a great weekend.”

BHS will await the announcement of regionals Monday, which the undefeated Intermountain League (8-0) regular-season champions are expected to host Nov. 1 at BHS.
