Demons again will hit the regional road

The Durango High School volleyball team will be on the road for the second consecutive year in the regional tournament. DHS will travel to No. 8 Berthoud on Saturday.

The Durango High School volleyball team is no stranger to regional tournaments.

Playing them on the road, though?

That’s a new development.

DHS (13-9) earned the No. 17 seed and will travel to No. 8 Berthoud (18-5) in the Colorado High School Activities Association Class 4A Region 8 tournament starting at 10 a.m. Saturday.

The Demons will face No. 29 Mesa Ridge (15-8) in the second match of the day then play Berthoud in the finale.

This is the second consecutive road regional for DHS after the Demons hosted the previous three seasons.

Berthoud finished second in the Tri-Valley league to No. 7 Mead, who will host No. 18 Montezuma-Cortez.

Southwestern League champion Montrose is the No. 4 seed will and host No. 21 D’Evelyn and No. 33 Thompson Valley.

DHS head coach Colleen Keresey could not be reached for comment.
