So when you flush, where does it all go?

It may not be as fun as touring a mansion hidden in the San Juan Mountains, but it’s probably more informative if you want to learn about the infrastructure behind everyday life.

The city of Durango Utilities Department will offer Wastewater Treatment Plant open houses at 3:30 p.m. each Wednesday and Friday through November.

Residents are welcome to tour the plant and learn how their wastewater system works, as well as the current and future obligations to meet the needs of the growing community.

The Utilities Department is evaluating the plant and developing a plan for improvements.

The current facility, as your nose has probably led you to suspect, is struggling to accommodate increased use and expanded capacity. Public involvement in this initiative and planning is desired to ensure the community has the opportunity to help shape the future of the facility.
