Scheduled maintenance will leave residents on either side of East Eighth Avenue, between College Drive and Jackson Place, without water much of the day Wednesday.

The utilities department will be shutting water off to allow workers to install a new valve and fire hydrant on the Fort Lewis College campus.

About 50 customers are expected to be impacted from 8:30 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Residents are advised to plan ahead for water needs, including cooking, drinking water and toilet flushing.
