Minimum wage should reflect inflation

As a society, we face an array of problems that are too numerous to count. One issue that is particularly insidious is that of minimum wage. Minimum wage is defined as the lowest wage that a person can legally be paid. In theory, this should allow for all working Americans to earn a decent living.

However, this is not always the case. It seems to be that when discussing the minimum wage, the topic of economic inflation arises. People are afraid of raising the minimum wage due to the fear of inflation. What people do not realize is that if the minimum wage kept up with the inflation that the American economy has experienced in its recent history, then the minimum wage would have reached far above the $8 we are given today. Minimum wage should change with the times.

America should change the minimum wage to fit the economic inflation that naturally occurs rather than avoiding the subject entirely.
