Cool temps and sunny skies

A webcam shows blue skies and plenty of sunshine today in Durango. Visit www.durangoherald.com/section/Webcams/ to view more webcams from the region.

The skies were crisp and clear today in Durango, with sunshine flooding down upon on the mountains in an uninterrupted cascade while many people walking Main Avenue took their chances with light jackets and no sunscreen.

While some locals may celebrate the sunshine as a welcome change from last week’s wretched tempests, danger abounds.

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, “tanning is not part of a healthy lifestyle,” and repeated tanning can lead to skin cancer.

According to the National Weather Service in Grand Junction, this afternoon will be “sunny, with a high near 39. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming north.”

Tonight will be “clear, with a low around 5. North northeast wind around 5 mph.”

Meanwhile, in Paris, chaos has erupted after a vote on whether to build the city’s first skyscraper in 42 years ended in electoral mayhem.

There, the temperature is 50 degrees, wind is 2 mph, and light rains are predicted through the evening.
