The Colorado Lottery tonight will give the town of Bayfield a Starburst Community Award for putting new life in dying Gosney Park.
The town used $45,000 from a Great Outdoors Colorado (GoCo) grant to help fund expansion of the playground, installation of new play structures and resurfacing of the playground.
The total cost of the project was $60,000.
The Starbursts award recognizes excellence in use of lottery funds to improve the environment. Gosney Park now gets extensive use throughout the year.
In fiscal 2014, the lottery distributed $130 million. Since it was founded 31 years ago, the lottery has returned 2.7 billion back to communities.
