Democrats to blame for immigration

“If you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor” turned out to be the lie of the year. So, how can we believe the president when he says, “If Congress sends me a bill on immigration reform, the executive order goes away”?

Who’s to say that if Congress sends him a bill and he uses his veto powers because it didn’t meet his standards, that we end up with a law that reflects the opinion of a man who never had a private-sector job? This borders on an imperial presidency that is way outside the president’s constitutional powers.

Before this president was even born, there was a guest-worker program that worked for 20-plus years. In the early 1960s, Caesar Chavez and his union buddies got the program killed by a Democratic Congress. Now, Chavez could organize the United Farm Workers. Reagan gave amnesty to resident immigrants, with the proviso that Congress would step up funding for more border security. It never happened; Democrats failed to fund increased border security.

So, quit blaming Republicans for issues that Democrats had several opportunities to fix going back 50 years.
