Student letters show left-leaning bias

I’m usually delighted to see evidence of engagement with contemporary issues by our young people.

However, the recent spate of letters to the editor by Bayfield High School students appear to be the products of a class assignment rather than opinions derived from research on controversial issues. Additionally, with the exception of Matthew Knickerbocker’s letter “Fracking essential to our economy” (Herald, Nov. 14), the letters all seemed to reflect a left-leaning bias.

Are we seeing a reflection of the teaching philosophy in our secondary schools?
