FLC volleyball signs a hitter

Martinez joins Swackenburg in Skyhawks’ early recruiting class

Help is on the way for the Fort Lewis College volleyball program.

FLC announced Hannah Martinez joined Kendra Swackenburg in the Skyhawks’ early recruiting class.

Martinez signed her National Letter of Intent to FLC on Monday.

Martinez was a two-year starter for Desert Vista High School in Phoenix as an outside and right-side hitter.

“Hannah will increase our volleyball IQ,” FLC head coach Kelley Rifilato said in a news release to The Durango Herald. “She has great defensive skills and will make an immediate impact to our program.”

Swackenburg, “a fundamentally sound setter,” Rifilato said earlier this month, was a four-year starter at Brighton High School, twice earning All-East Metro Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors.

FLC finished its 2014 season 8-18 overall and 5-13 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, missing the RMAC Tournament.
