In honor of its 49th ski season, Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort is opening Friday with $49 adult all-day lift tickets. Lifts will be turning from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday, the resort announced in a news release today.

Elsewhere in Southwest Colorado, Wolf Creek, which opened for weekend skiing Nov. 5, opened for daily skiing Thursday; meanwhile, Telluride plans to officially open Thanksgiving Day.

Purgatory this weekend will offer top-to-bottom skiing and riding off Lift 1, the six-person high-speed Purgatory Village Express Lift, and Lift 2 with trails open that are adjacent to it, down Demon to the base. The DC Terrain Park and Angel’s Tread Terrain Park will be open all weekend as well.

The $49 lift tickets will be available Friday through Sunday. Prices are $49 adults (18-64 years); costs are lower for other groups.

After this weekend, DMR will be closed while it makes more snow. The resort plans to reopen Dec. 5 through Dec. 7. Purgatory will be open on weekends only (Fridays through Sundays) until conditions permit daily operations, most likely around mid-December, the release said.

This weekend, Purgy’s Restaurant will be open 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. (5 p.m. Sunday). Village Market and Deli will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Shops in Purgatory Village Plaza will also be open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
