Scoring struggles continue for BHS girls

Monticello wins battle of the winless in Farmington

Something had to give when winless Bayfield met winless Monticello on Saturday at the Scorpion Invitational in Farmington.

Both teams scored 12 points in the first quarter, but the Wolverines’ offense disappeared after that.

Monticello won 32-20 to send BHS to its seventh consecutive loss to start the season.

The 12 first-quarter points matched Bayfield’s total from the previous game. The Wolverines scored 52 points in four tournament games and allowed 199.

Sophomore point guard Kyle Baker led BHS (0-7) with five points and hit the Wolverines’ only 3-pointer. She also grabbed six rebounds to pace the team.

BHS turned the ball over 18 times in the game.

The Wolverines will take a holiday break before returning to Farmington to face Piedra Vista at 7 p.m. Jan. 8.
