Two named to FLC board of trustees

Gov. John Hickenlooper on Tuesday named two new Fort Lewis College trustees.

Gov. John Hickenlooper named a pair of candidates with ties to Durango to the Fort Lewis College board of trustees.

The terms of Honora Isabelle Jacquez and Alan G. Hill will expire Dec. 31, 2018. The announcement was made Tuesday.

Jacquez was born in Durango, spent her childhood in the area, was a professor of Spanish and Latin American studies at Oberlin College in Ohio and earned a law degree at the University of Colorado, practicing at the Denver law firm of Jacquez Arnold and Judd.

Jacquez is the author of The Great Tamale War and Other Tales.

Hill earned a degree in political science at Fort Lewis College in 1978 and received his law degree from the University of Colorado in 1981; he specializes in water rights at the Yates Law Firm in Denver.

Hill and Jacquez replace Peter Decker and Matthew Wassam.
