Tourism briefing to be held

The Durango Area Tourism Office will host its first “Tourism Industry Briefing” from 8 to 9:30 a.m. Feb. 4 at the Durango Public Library. The organization hopes to make it an annual event.

The Durango Area Tourism Office, or DATO, will host its first “Tourism Industry Briefing” Feb. 4 at the Durango Public Library from 8 to 9:30 a.m.

“In addition to updating our community on what the Durango Area Tourism Office has done, we are looking to establish closer contact with all tourism product providers,” said Bob Kunkel, executive director of the Durango Area Tourism Office, in a DATO news release. “Our goal is to open the lines of communication and invite more involvement with DATO and seek collaborative opportunities.”

The tourism office will introduce the team members, sector representatives, DATO board members and plans for the year.

The meeting will give the general public the opportunity to learn from DATO staff and contractors about advertising and media interaction, website training and web opportunities, social media, international markets, group sales, the Welcome Center, visitor information services, public relations and more, the release said.
