Axis Health names new staff members

Axis Health System – a private, nonprofit organization serving the health-care needs of Southwest Colorado residents – welcomes these new staff members:

Dr. Victor Lopez, medical director and 40-year resident of Colorado, has provided primary care in Durango since 1980 and was a founding member of La Plata Family Medicine Associates. Lopez provides leadership for the integrated primary-care programs at La Plata Integrated Healthcare, Cortez Integrated Healthcare and the School-Based Health Centers at Durango High and Florida Mesa Elementary Schools.

Syl Manlove, deputy chief operating officer who hails from the Midwest, has more than 10 years experience in health-care and nonprofit environments. She will develop administrative and operational systems, assist with strategic planning, oversee revenue-cycle management, grants and contracts as well as risk management.

Connie Robb – assistant controller, CPA and 31-year resident of Durango, with 20 years experience as a governmental and nonprofit auditor and senior accountant in health care – will oversee all aspects of cash management, including payroll and accounts payable.

Ellen Stein, director of development, a career nonprofit professional with a master’s in public policy and 10-year Durango resident, is coordinating all grants management and administration, fund development, communications, marketing, public relations, public policy and advocacy activities.

Cheryl Marable – reimbursement manager, from Farmington – has more than 10 years experience in nonprofit health-care facility billing and an additional 10 years experience in billing for small health-care businesses. She provides guidance and oversight to her staff to ensure the billing department runs efficiently, oversees provider insurance paneling and manages the revenue cycle.

Jenna Calderwood – data team manager, from Albuquerque – possesses 15 years of health-care industry experience in reporting, analytics and finance. She will support Axis’ growth in reporting and analytics.

Gordon South – homeless and outreach program manager, from Boulder – has a master’s in health management and a background working with diverse communities to increase community health and wellness outcomes. South will facilitate outreach, eligibility, enrollment and integrated-care coordination for Axis’s general and homeless-patient populations.
