Hit-and-run driver sought by police

Resident captured incident on camera
The Durango Police Department is seeking this vehicle, a white 2000 to 2004 Ford Mustang with a black convertible top, that was involved in a hit-and-run incident Tuesday morning.

The Durango Police Department is seeking the driver in a hit-and-run incident that occurred Tuesday.

“Unfortunately, hit-and-run accidents are not that uncommon,” Officer Ron Wysocki with the DPD said. “What is unusual in this instance is that a citizen got photos of it.”

The vehicle being sought is a white 2000 to 2004 Ford Mustang with a black convertible top, which was driven by a white male. The car may have some slight damage to the driver’s side rear-quarter panel or door.

The photos are helpful, Wysocki said, but when zooming in to try to see the license plate, the image pixilates too much for the plate to be read.

“The two vehicles involved were parked side-by-side, and while the white Mustang was backing up, it swerved into the other vehicle,” Wysocki said.

Wysocki said the police department is calling the damage extreme because it broke out the taillights.

The incident occurred at about 10 a.m. at the Hillcrest Apartments on Goeglein Gulch Road.

Anyone with information about the car or the accident is asked to call the Emergency Services Dispatch Center at 385-2900.
