Snow may pass through Durango

Sunny skies seen Monday on U.S. Highway 160 near Bayfield were expected to turn cloudy and possibly snowy on Wednesday. Visit http://thecloudscout.com for up-to-date weather news and to view more area webcams.

A passing snowstorm on Wednesday could interrupt a series of sunny days in the Durango area.

The National Weather Service forecasts a 40 percent chance of snow on Wednesday, with a 20 percent chance of snow Wednesday night.

The agency said in a hazardous weather outlook issued early Monday morning “Wednesday and Thursday there will be (a) chance of rain and snow over the lower elevations of the Four Corners in Southeast Utah and Southwest Colorado ... with a chance of snow showers in the San Juan Mountains.”

High temperatures are forecast to drop from 47 degrees Monday to 43 on Tuesday, 42 on Wednesday, 39 on Thursday and 41 on Friday. Lows will be in the teens and 20s, the agency said.

After the midweek storm, clear skies are forecast through the weekend.
