SUV rolls over in parking lot

No serious injuries reported
Rescue personnel from the Durango Fire Protection District responded to a single-vehicle rollover Wednesday evening in the Town Plaza parking lot off Camino del Rio. No serious injuries were reported. The driver of a small SUV apparently hit a planter, causing the vehicle to roll onto its side.

A rollover accident occurred at Town Plaza Wednesday evening, but only a minor injury was reported.

“A woman was pulling out of her parking space and started going forward,” Sgt. Robert Taylor with the Durango Police Department said. “She struck that little planter box with her front left tire because she apparently didn’t see it. I don’t know if she panicked or what happened, but she hit the gas, and the tire went up on to the box and then the SUV went into a slow rollover.”

The accident occurred in the parking lot near south City Market.

Taylor identified the driver as a 65-year-old Durango resident, but he said he could not release her identity Wednesday night. The woman received a scratch to her forehead, but was not transported to the hospital.

Taylor said the driver was cited for careless driving.

The Durango Fire Protection District also responded.
