Pop-Up Shop to benefit Durango Arts Center

New Face Productions and its TOP Committee have created a temporary Pop-Up Shop featuring clothing from La Plata County resident Christina Erteszek’s Hermosa line that will be open only Friday and Saturday as a fundraiser for the Durango Arts Center.

It’s usually the Internet or a trip to a city for La Plata County residents to shop at Nordstrom, the well-known Seattle-based department store chain. But for two days, and two days only, the Hermosa line, which is carried at Nordstrom, will be offered at a TOP Pop-Up Shop in downtown Durango.

The line is designed by local resident Christina Erteszek, who is donating 75 percent of sales of one-of-a-kind and sample items as well as lounge wear, tops, jackets, pant, robes, active wear and lingerie from the line.

“I like to make women comfortable in their own skin,” Erteszek said. “I call this line Malibu (California) meets the Rockies.”

Almost 1,000 pieces will be included in the sale, Erteszek said. While the Hermosa line sells at Nordstrom at prices ranging from $40 to over $100, the prices at the Pop-Up Shop will be deeply discounted.

“The Hermosa line of apparel is timeless, ageless and seasonless,” said Nancy Conrad, a member of the New Face Productions Committee. “The fabrics are yummy, and styles are stunning.”

The shop will also include handbags, totes, wristlets and wallets from Oregon designer Jenn Hogan, of DecoPony totes.

TOP is a project of New Face Productions, which raised money to support Durango Arts Center and regional arts and culture. Their most recent venture was the TOP Jewels National Jewelry Design Exhibition in May at the DAC.

“I blame TOP for this line, Erteszek said.

The group’s first fundraisers were fashion shows and auctions one-of-a-kind T-shirts designed by area artists.

“Now look where we are,” she said, “with a line named after our beautiful Hermosa Creekside, and since Hermosa means beautiful, perfect for women’s apparel.”
