Treasure finder wants to sell

Robert Evers inspects documents and old newspapers recovered from a house along Wildcat Canyon Road that is being demolished. Old Army draft papers, copies of The Denver Post and The Durango Herald, letters and magazines were among the items recovered.

Robert Evers has worked as a jack-of-all-trades after putting in 14 years in the Oklahoma oil fields.

He’s a mechanic, he’s a welder and he cuts and sells firewood. Last week, he was hired out to demolish a house on Wildcat Canyon Road (County Road 141). The deal included the right to whatever he found in the house and outbuildings.

In addition to lumber and tools, he found suitcases and trunks of old newspapers, magazines and documents.

Evers has sold some of his treasures and wants to sell the rest. Anyone interested may contact Evers at 560-2942.
