Dance has paid dearly for her mistakes

I am employee of the Cyprus Cafe.

I know Alison Dance made some mistakes. I also know she has apologized to every employee, paid her fines, reimbursed the front of the house and moved on – or at least tried to.

And then, The Durango Herald viciously painted her as a bad employer. This is not true.

For all the injurious press, this paper neglected to mention the hundreds of people who have benefited from her business: local ranchers, local farmers, people with food allergies who want to eat out and local charities seeking fundraising donations, to name a few.

Shame on the disgruntled ex-employees. Yes, Alison made mistakes, and she has paid dearly for them.

But what about these aforementioned employees? What about the extra drinks they drank on her nickel, the food they ate that was made exactly to their liking – salmon and all – for free, while disregarding the meal policy. I know this because I drank and ate with them. Are they going to repay Alison for these indiscretions? She has repaid them for her mistakes.

I hope they and the Herald can finally move on as well.
