You want to tell your sweetheart how much you love her or him, and you want to do it in song. Problem is, you’re a terrible singer.
Well, you could let the Durango Barbershoppers do your work for you. The Barbershoppers, as they do annually, are offering “Singing Valentines” to some lucky lovers Friday and Saturday, the latter of which happens to be Valentine’s Day.
The Barbershoppers will split into about two or three quartets and head toward the schools, homes and businesses where the recipients are. The quartet will woo your valentine with two songs, a red carnation and a small box of chocolates.
Examples of songs are “Won’t You Call Me Sweetheart” and “I’m In Love With You,” said Kermitt Barrett, with Tosch & Associates. He said the Barbershoppers usually deliver from 45 to 65 Singing Valentines annually. Barrett also happens to be Durango Barbershoppers Director Amy Barrett’s husband.
The cost is $50. Part of that fee goes to funding the activities of the nonprofit singers, and part will go to funding music education in local schools.
To make a reservation, call Maxine Peterson at 247-5073. Visit http://durangobarbershoppers.org/events for more information.
The Barbershoppers’ annual spring concert is June 13 at the Smiley Auditorium.
