Silverton’s sixth annual skijoring event is on despite the recent lack of snow.
The event will be held at noon Saturday and Sunday on Blair Street in downtown Silverton.
Skijoring has Nordic roots. The sport involves a skier being pulled by a galloping horse.
Silverton residents Pete Maisel and Rob Conaty brought the annual event to Silverton in 2010. It has proved popular, attracting more than 1,000 attendees in recent years.
The event discourages attendees from bringing their dogs. “Dogs and horses simply do not mix at this type of event,” the official website says.
