Llama death not considered a crime

This week’s Crimestoppers call for help, which asked for information about a llama’s death, turned out to be not needed.

A llama found dead on Trail Road in Hesperus was killed by an animal, not a bullet, Jon Patla, director of animal protection, at the Humane Society of La Plata County, said Thursday.

Investigators from the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office and the Humane Society said the person who found the llama, which was half-eaten and had an ear ripped off, mistakenly thought the wound was the entry point of a bullet, Patla said.

This week’s Crimestoppers bulletin also features two men and a woman wanted for no-bond violations.
