Mummery paces DHS at state swimming

Anne Mummery recorded a 10th- and 11th-place finish individually and helped lead the 200 medley relay team to a 12th-place finish Saturday in the CHSAA Class 4A State Swimming and Diving Championships in Thornton.

Mummery swam the 100 freestyle in 54:03 and the 100 backstroke in 58.87. She also teamed with Elli Earl, Mira Joyner and Catherine Dellinger to finish the 200 medley relay in 1:56.71.

“It was fantastic. The girls did a real good job,” DHS head coach Kathryn Ross said. “We had some times that were best times and others that were right on track of our fastest times. Anne did real well with the 100 freestyle and backstroke. She was right up there with some of the top swimmers in the state.

According to Ross, Elise Tidwell, Caroline Tidwell and Sarah Lawton advanced to the second round in diving before being eliminated.
