DSC frolics at winter race

Colder temperatures haven’t kept the Durango Swim Club out of the water.

The club attended the Winter Wonder Swim in Farmington on Feb. 7-8.

Twelve swimmers finished atop the podium for the DSC.

Abby Bowman (10) finished first in the 100-yard breaststroke and 100-yard individual medley.

Jessica Bowman (13) took first in the 100-IM and the 100-yard breaststroke and second in the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard freestyle and 50-yard butterfly.

Betty Holcomb (6) was first in the 25-yard freestyle, backstroke and butterfly and the 50-yard freestyle and backstroke.

Maggie Holcomb (9) placed first in the 50-, 100- and 200-yard freestyle and the 100-yard backstroke.

Kaizer Lile (6) finished first in the 25- and 50-yard freestyle and the 25- and 50-yard backstroke.

Iaian McCourt (15) won the 500-yard freestyle, 100-yard backstroke and 200-yard breaststroke.

Aileen McManus (6) finished first in the 100-yard freestyle and the 25- and 50-yard breaststroke and second in the 25- and 50-yard freestyle and 50-yard backstroke.

Her older sister, Angela McManus (11), took first in the 100-yard freestyle, second in the 200-yard IM and freestyle and third in the 100- and 200-yard breaststroke and 50-yard butterfly.

Seamus Millet (15) won the 50-, 100- and 200-yard freestyle.

“This was Seamus’ first meet with the club, and he had outstanding swims,” DSC head coach Suzanne Schieltz said in an email to The Durango Herald.

Eliza Rossi (12) was first in the 100-yard breaststroke and second in the 50- and 100-yard freestyle and 50-yard breaststroke.

Quinn Schmidt (12) won the 500-yard freestyle, 200-yard backstroke, breaststroke and IM and 400-yard IM.

“Quinn is an up and coming distance swimmer,” Schieltz said.

Jayden Craig (7) was third in the 25-yard backstroke and fourth in the 25- and 50-yard freestyle.

Zada Lile (8) finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle and 25-yard breaststroke.

Riley Mata (13) took second in the 50- and 100-yard backstroke, third in the 100-yard freestyle and fourth in the 50-yard freestyle.

Elizabet O’Riley (8) was second in the 25-yard backstroke, breaststroke and freestyle.

Sydney Pritchard finished fourth in the 100-yard freestyle and fifth in the 50-yard backstroke and breaststroke and 100-yard backstroke.

“Sydney has come a long way and is improving daily,” Schieltz said.

Mckenzie Rion (11) took third in the 100-yard backstroke and IM.

Merin Schmidt (7) was fifth in the 25-yard freestyle.

Gray Stecher finished fifth in the 50-yard freestyle and sixth in the 100-yard freestyle and 50-yard backstroke in his first meet with the club.
