When part-time Durango resident and furniture designer Tim McClellan was selected to be 1 of 6 competitors on Ellen DeGeneris’ new show, “Ellen’s Design Challenge,” he wasn’t too sure about getting involved.
Now, he’s one of two finalists, and Monday, the world will discover whether he will take home a check for $100,000.
“It’s been quite a blessing, a lot more rewarding and a lot more exciting than I originally anticipated,” McClellan said. “It’s really stretched my design muscles. Normally, when I’m hired to design a couch that will be the centerpiece of a room, I will take a week or two to come up with the design and possible fabrics and four or five weeks to complete it. Here I had two days to design and build the couch.”
The finale will air at 9 p.m. Monday on HGTV.
McClellan will be holding a viewing party in Arizona, where his Western Heritage Furniture company is located.
